A day and a half program of information about the workings of relationships,
presentations of
psychological findings about intimacy, experiential groups seeking to
uncover
barriers to intimacy, self-esteem and body-image discussions, mindfulness-
meditation for
self-efficacy, and group
support for creating changes in the way one
approaches dating
and mating.
This specialty program is designed for people who are experiencing dissatisfaction
in their personal life. Participants often express a sense of never having been able to
succeed in a relationship, or others sometimes are coming out of relationship and are
questioning themselves about what went wrong.
Leaders of the workshops are mental health professionals in the private practice of Parkhurst
Associates Mental Health Services, who deal on a daily basis with individual clients suffering
depression and anxiety about finding a mate. Participants also benefit from the experience
of a sports psychologist. Some portion of the registration fee may be reimbursable by
individual’s health insurance plans.
The current workshops are held in the meeting rooms of the Carlyle Suites, an intimate,
boutique hotel in the residential neighborhood of Dupont Circle. The comfortable surroundings
also allow a sense of privacy and confidentiality to participants. Street parking is easy and free
on the weekends, and Metro is only two blocks away.

Cancellation Policy
Refunds for cancelled registrations may be requested until two weeks prior to the workshop.
A $50 cancellation fee will be subtracted from the refund. No refunds are available less
than
two weeks before the workshop begins, and no partial refunds are available for
single-day
attendance. In the unlikely event that the workshop is cancelled for any reason,
registrants
may elect to register for a subsequently scheduled workshop, or a full refund
will be offered.
