Leigha M. Robinson, MS, PsyA

Washington, D.C. Location

I am a licensed psychology associate specializing in psychotherapy, specifically cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I also specialize in WIPPSI, WISC-V, WAIS-IV, Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual assessments, and mental status examinations. I believe that when it comes to psychotherapy, there is no “one size fit’s all” approach to patient care; individualized treatment plans enable patients the space to work and grow at their own pace. My CBT approach promotes self-awareness through structured and practical therapy sessions, helping patients identify and overcome barriers and challenges. In addition to CBT, I use mindfulness to help those suffering from depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief, abuse and violence, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire and a Master of Science degree in Psychology with a concentration in Forensic Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University. Fieldwork includes forensic evaluations for adult and juvenile offenders, evaluations and assessments for Disability Determination Services, and vast work with those suffering from substance abuse disorders. Professional research includes grooming and online solicitation used by sex offenders, A-Podd (analysis of patterns of deception and denial), and analysis of behavioral abnormality observations in persons considered for civil commitment in the State of Texas. In addition to counseling and research, I am an adjunct professor for York County Community College (Maine), teaching undergraduate forensic psychology.

I look forward to working with you on your journey and road to health and healing. I am currently accepting new patients in the Washington DC area. Due to COVID-19, I accommodate teletherapy appointments.
