Making you feel safe and trust is the cornerstone of my clinical practice. I am invested in that you will feel listened and understood. I do believe life’s challenges is the result of a complex personal story, socio-cultural dynamics, and sometimes early exposure to traumatic experiences that we could not even recall. However, each of us deserve a fulfilling life, feeling free, empowered, and with the adequate skills to overcome fears, anxiety, traumas, depression, loss, and unhealthy relationships with ourselves or others.

My approach to therapy is integrative and multicultural sensitive. I based my practice using research supported treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with specializations in Trauma Focused CBT and Narrative Exposure Therapy. I also apply relational therapy and mindfulness practices to help you to increase awareness and work through challenges. I will emphasize on your culture, personal strengths, and resiliency while supporting your personal growth and achieving the changes you are looking for. I have specialized clinical training in helping clients in individual, couple or group psychotherapy after being exposed to traumatic experiences, grief, loss, and acculturation/immigration stressors and transitions. I truly enjoy working with Women's matters and supporting important developmental transitions such as girlhood to womanhood, pregnancy, motherhood, and empty nest.

I received my bachelor in Psychology from Javeriana University in Colombia, earned my Master in Clinical Mental Health from Villanova University, and currently completing my PhD in Counseling at the George Washington University. I am a bilingual and bicultural psychotherapist. I am a board-certified counselor and licensed in both Washington D.C and Maryland. I came to the states 12 years ago with 5 years of clinical experience working internationally with adolescents and adults. I am a member of the American Counseling Association, National Board of Certified Counselors, International Society For Traumatic Stress Studies, and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors of Maryland.

Looking forward to developing a strong therapeutic relationship with you!!
