Chelsea Manchester Eckhouse, PhD, LPC

Chelsea Manchester Eckhouse, PhD, LPC, received her Doctorate degree in Counseling from the George Washington University. She also received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University, and her Bachelors degree in Psychology from the Catholic University of America. She completed her clinical internship at Children’s National Medical Center. Dr. Eckhouse is a licensed professional counselor in the District of Columbia. She additionally works as an adjunct professor in the George Washington University’s Counseling Department.

In the course of her training, Dr. Eckhouse has acquired a range of clinical experiences in therapy and assessment, including work within university, community, and hospital settings. These diverse experiences have enhanced her ability to effectively treat clients. In therapy, she works with individuals experiencing a range of issues, including: mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, relationship challenges, life transitions (school adjustment, mid-life, job difficulties), grief, and sexuality.

Dr. Eckhouse is integrative in her therapeutic approach as she blends techniques and interventions to meet the needs of each client. Grounded in evidence-based practice, she incorporates acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based interventions to support the unique needs of each client. She believes in the importance of fostering a collaborative therapeutic relationship to facilitate client growth, acceptance and change.
